HIGHER, FASTER, STRONGER...FITTER AND SUPER HEALTHY!!

Hi P.Eople!
During October our 4th grade students have been taking part in a fun and interesting activity...

THE OLYMPICS!!

The Olympics is a gamification project in which students compete and cooperate to get medals for their teams. By this way they learn things about athletics, the olympic games event, to mesure time and distances, to compare them,....
Apart from playing different games, and overcome different cooperative challenges, in which their basic physical capacities were involved (CATCH THE FLINGSOCK, HEAD SHOULDERS KNEES AND CONE, ETC), the have passed 6 easy and simple tests to be aware of their level of strength, endurance, speed, flexibility, agility and coordination.

As we can see in the picture, each student is a member of a different national team. 15 countries / teams formed by 5 people maximum took part in the competition. To participate they had to sign on an Olympic fair play code.

After each test, the best 5th results were showed in the podium. We had two categories, boys and girls, so each country could have more oportunities to get more medals.  The medals system increase students motivation.

In the leaderboard we can see the amount of medals that each country was winning.

The different tests that they did are the following ones:

1. Speed Test: The student must run 40 meters as fast as possible.

2. Jump test: With both feet togheter, students must jump as farthest as possible. They must land without moving their feet or touching the floor with their hands. With this test we can evaluate students lower body strength.

3. Shot put test: Students have to throw a ball from an overhead position as farthest as possible. They can't move their feet, and we can measure their upper body strength.

4. Flexibility: Using a swedish bench, the student must try to touche the farthest point without bending his knees.

5. Skipping rope test: During 30 seconds the student must jump forward as many times as possible. With this test we can evaluate students coordination, stamina, and agility.

6. Relay race test. And finally, students must cooperate and compete against the clock in a relay race around the handball court. The buton can't drop off and students must receive it in the relay zone marked by cones.

Do you have more ideas that can be useful to develop this project?Write your comment!!
See you soon P.Eople!!

HIGHER, FASTER AND STRONGER II

 Hi P.Eople!😀😀

During October we have been working on the Olympics Gamification Projectat Costa Blanca School  ...

We have done the Physical Condition we usually do which you can see in this post:

Apart from doing their best to improve their marks, this year our sudents can check if they have broken any record and have entered in the HALL OF FAME

This is our personal poster, in which we show other student's records.  Students who are  nowadays in year 5, 6 or even in the hish school.🤴👸

Moreover, our P.E teachers Julio and Diego take part into this activity. We have another poster with their marks.
It´s very fun and motivating to try to beat them!😁

We have implemented other interesting resources using ICTs, as the FOTO FINISH to make clear difficult decisiones... Students love this functionality and they are really engaged with the activities!!📷📱

Students use to enjoy a lot with this gamification project , and next year we will implement new aspects like giving them paper medals as a reward in the tests. 🥇🥈🥉🏅🏆 or other rewards.

See you soon!!

In P.e we use to perform circuits with different materials (foam blocks, plastic bricks, cones, sticks, etc.)
Here you have some videos to train at home by creating easy homemade fitness circuits.

WE CHALLENGE YOU!
You have to create your own homemade circuit at home and perform it...You can record your permformance as well, and show it to your teachers when you go back to school!!

Leave your comments and send us your pictures or videos if you want!

Hola chic@s!
